The heart and soul of the Sentra SE-R and SE-R Spec V is their QR25DE advanced high-performance 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder. With the largest relative displacement of the standard Sentra 2.0-liter engine, the traction motor important change - helping to achieve 177 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 172 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm on regular unleaded gasoline in south-R and 200 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 180 lb-ft of torque at 5200 rpm (using premium unleaded gasoline) in the SE-R Spec V.

Sentra SE-R is equipped with Nissan's Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with available paddle, which provides a unique offering in the sport compact market, while the SE-R Spec V is available only for close-ratio 6-speed manual. Both vehicles use a damper spring independent front / rear coil suspension and torsion beam with stabilizer bar front design and rear disc brakes with antilock 4-wheel braking system and electronic distribution of braking forces (EBD) power steering and 17-inch aluminum alloy. The SE-R uses 11.7 inches and 11.5-inch front and rear, while contact with the road is managed by 225/45VR17 performance tires for all seasons.
